Getting started with RINGZA

Now that you know RINGZA is, it's time to learn how to use it.

When should I start RINGZA?

The best day to start using RINGZA can vary depending on your situation. Your healthcare professional can help you choose the right time for you.

Starting

If you are...

not currently using
hormonal birth control.

Start using RINGZA between Days 2 and 5 of your periods.

Switching

If you are...

changing from a different combined hormonal contraceptive (pill, patch, monthly disposable contraceptive vaginal ring) to RINGZA

If you have been using your birth control method correctly and are sure that you are not pregnant, you can change to RINGZA any day of your birth control cycle. Do not start RINGZA any later than the day you would start a new cycle of your current birth control method.

  • Minipill: Switch on any day. Start using RINGZA on the day that you would have taken you next minipill.
  • Injection: Start using RINGZA on the date when your next injection is due.
  • Implant or Intrauterine System (IUS): You may switch from an implant or an IUS and start using RINGZA at the time the implant or IUS is removed.

how to insert it.

Important – for the first 7 days you use RINGZA

You should use a back-up barrier birth control method, such as a male condom or spermicide, if:

  • You are STARTING RINGZA after not using hormonal birth control and your periods are not regular; or you start more than 5 days from when your period began.
  • You are SWITCHING to RINGZA from a progestin-only birth control.

Don't forget the discard date!

Here's an example:

If you insert RINGZA for the first time on July 15, 2026, your discard date will be one year later, on July 15, 2027.

You must insert RINGZA for the first time before the expiry date. If the expiry date on your package says 2026/AU/31, make sure to insert RINGZA for the first time before August 31, 2026. You can continue to use it for 1 year (13 cycles).

To help you remember, write down the discard date on the storage case sticker provided.
